Greenfern Grove
Greenfern Grove is an ambitious community regeneration project being delivered through a partnership between Mastrick & District Men’s Shed and MSS Community Council.
The initiative will transform a previously unused area outside Mastrick Library into a vibrant and accessible community space designed for residents of all ages. The development will include a landscaped walking path, picnic benches, seating areas, garden planters, an outdoor reading corner, and a central monument, creating an attractive environment where people can relax, socialise, and enjoy the outdoors.

Container Move
We have successfully moved our storage container from Mastrick Community Centre to Springhill Community Garden — a vital step in expanding our community projects. This move simply wouldn’t have happened without two outstanding supporters, and not forgetting expert driving and operating skills from Caddy :
- Peter Out & About — Peter explores Aberdeen’s streets for local controversies and breaking news stories. On the scene sharing issues and getting to the heart of the community.
- Colin Lawson Transport — Aberdeen’s largest and experienced transport and haulage companies, operating a fleet in excess of 75 vehicles and 110 trailers across the UK and Europe
Their generosity and expertise reflect the best of local community spirit. With the container now in place, the Shed is ready for even more activity at Springhill Community Garden.
Music in the Garden at Greenfern Grove
Music in the Gardens, organised by CFINE, brought a lively burst of music and community spirit to Mastrick Library Green Space on Friday 4 September. The event not only showcased brilliant local performers but also helped promote the work of Springhill Community Garden, celebrating its role as a growing, welcoming space for the neighbourhood.
The afternoon featured soulful performances from Bryan Duncan and Bob Knight, followed by a warm and inclusive Open Mic led by John Montgomery. With refreshments from Boards and Beans Café, the event offered a relaxed setting for residents to enjoy music, meet neighbours, and learn more about the garden’s community‑led future.
